Flood Warning issued June 3 at 10:26AM CDT until June 3 at 2:30PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following county, Montgomery. * WHEN...Until 230 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, streets, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1026 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported street flooding in Independence due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen across the county. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area through the early afternoon. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Coffeyville, Independence, Cherryvale, Caney, Dearing, Elk City, Tyro, Liberty, Havana, Bolton, Sycamore, Independence Airport, Elk City State Park, Elk City Lake and Coffeyville Airport. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.
